Thanks, NPR. I couldn’t have said it much better myself. I would assume he announced now in hopes of avoiding any potential criminal investigation from the DoJ. But also, he’s Trump. He just does whatever the eff he wants.

All I want is for this to end up causing the GOP to destroy each other. However, I imagine that after the Trump/DeSantis love affair ends, people will go back to Trump and pretend that nothing ever happened.

One other thing I forgot to mention in my last post, I did some work for 2 local campaigns and I’m proud to say that both were successful. They were Kimberly Snipes and Kevin Scully for Lex-Rich 5 school board. One of them ousted a right-wing pseudo COVID denier. So, there’s much rejoice in that!

This school board election showed two things: 

1. Ground game works for local elections. Both Kimberly and Kevin put a lot of work by actively campaigning and making themselves available to the public. On the other side of the district, it there didn’t seem to much as much work being done, and it showed…
2. Local elections matter! As I just mentioned, the other side of the district also had an election. 2 seats were up for grabs. 1 of the seats was won by Q-Anon/Oath Keeper type candidate, which is terrifying. But the other seat was won by an actual sane individual by only 16 votes. Mike Satterfeild, the sane individual, beat out a particularly corrupt incumbent who also had some authoritarian, right-wing tendencies. 

I’ll go ahead and end the post there. I’m going to strive to regularly put out content again. So please, hold me to that!
